Dr. Oliver H. Brundage

Dr. Brundage loved rowing and his dedication gave Parkersburg and the Mid-Ohio Valley the sport of rowing. He was raised in the Philadelphia area when it was considered the rowing capital of the United States. There he became exposed to the sport and his love for rowing stayed with him the rest of his life.

The third and final Rowing World Cup for 2010 wrapped up in Lucerne, Switzerland, with the four Blue Riband events. In the eights last year's World Champions showed that they still had the goods: the United States won for the women and Germany were the best of the men.

Hosts dominate Croatia Open

The 27th Croatia Open kicked off last weekend in one of the first international regattas of 2010. Around 650 crews from eight countries competed on Jarun Lake in Zagreb from April 10-11. The first day of competition featured some of the best races as the host nation sweep in the medal podium in the men’s single sculls with Damir Martin, Valent Sinkovic and Martin Sinkovic finishing 1-2-3 over Olympic medalist Luka Spik and Estonians Allar Raja and Kaspar Taimsoo.
